The
photo and clippings below show a young 18 year old Steve Barrett
after knocking out Number 1 seed Barry Wilson in the annual
championships in 1971, Steve as you all know is still playing in
our premier league some 40 years later. I would like to point
out that Steve has been a big part of the KLTTA, from his early
days as a young player, during his table tennis career he has
held many positions with the association including, Hon:
Auditor, Vice Chairman, EAL Match Secretary, Treasurer and is
our current President. He was also the towns team captain for
over 12 seasons. He currently sponsors the league (IBA). I would
personally like to say a big thank you to him and let us hope
our young super stars of today have such successful table
tennis careers.
In the first photo we also have a young Frank Farmer and, like
Steve, Frank has been a big part of the KLTTA, Frank still plays
in the KLTTA for Swaffham Terriers in Division Two.
Below the first photo we have a Lynn News and Advertiser
clipping from 1983 which I have copied in full so you can read
the write up which was possibly one of Steve's best seasons. The
clipping also shows two other players who have had a big impact
on our league, 'Mr Table Tennis' himself Maurice Ebbs who almost
single handed built up our association to 7 divisions each with
12 teams in 1974/5, and Roy Hurt who devoted many years to the
association.
