FIRST KNOCK NIGHT A GREAT SUCCESS

WELL DONE FOR GREAT ORGANISING  WITH SAFETY IN MIND!

Stephen

Jim

Aaron

Finally after months of lockdown through Covid 19 we were given the 'go ahead' for our first knock night. As you will see from previous posts strict guidelines had to be followed. We had access to the hall from 6pm on Monday 24th August and the team of Jim, Stephen and Aaron were there and set up three tables and surrounds. The front door was open at 6.15pm and with a maximum of 12 players (the number we could safely allow to comply with all necessary conditions) the night began. All 12 players had pre registered with Jim and as they arrived Aaron with his trusty infra red thermometer in hand took everyone's temperature. Thankfully everyone turned on the green light and play began with everyone washing hands, all had their own antibacterial hand gel and face mask.

Four players to each table and only singles allowed the two players who were not playing were wearing masks. As you will see by the photos social distancing was in place with all courts having the required amount of space set out by Table Tennis England. Play finished at 7.45pm and all tables cleaned and put away.

Next Monday is a Bank Holiday and there is NO knock night. The next knock night is Monday 7th September and anyone wishing to play MUST pre book with Jim (all details below).

The following Monday 14th September we are hoping to play the final handicap singles match from last season which will decide the final league positions in the combination league. The top two teams who with only one point difference will compete on a single table (so NO knock night). Hunnys Heroes take on Adrian's Oldstars, the match will start at 6.15pm, presentations will take place after the match.

From the following Monday 21st September the knock nights will continue, these will continue until we have any fresh guidelines. The knock nights (with some different things being brought in) will continue until we either have the go ahead to start up the league or are told to stop, all depending on Covid 19.

I would personally like to say thanks to Jim and Stephen for taking over from me and thank Aaron for taking the photos.

KNOCK NIGHTS IN THE HALL FROM MONDAY 24TH AUGUST 2020

Hi All
Jim and Stephen have been to the hall and after carefully following all guidelines from TTE have decided they will be able to have three tables up for knock nights. They will operate a clockwise rotation of players. The dividing barriers will finish 1 metre short each end to allow passage from court to court whilst maintaining the 2 metre social distancing. Each night will be restricted to just 12 players, WHO WILL NEED TO BOOK IN ADVANCE. Those who miss out will have first option of the following week. Those attending will be allowed in from 6.15 (hall will be set up by Stephen and Jim at 6 pm). Temperature will be taken as players enter through back room with infra red digital thermometer, where players will pay and have name ticked off (cost from 1 maximum 2 depending on numbers attending). If temperature not acceptable the person will not be allowed to stay. Face masks to be worn at all times when NOT PLAYING. Everyone to have their own face mask and antibacterial hand gel. Play will cease at 7.45pm and all present to wipe down tables and barriers and put away. Cleaning material and wipes will be available.
First knock night is next Monday 24th August, all those interested MUST PRE BOOK WITH JIM EITHER BY EMAIL, TEXT OR WHATSAPP.

LATEST UPDATE ON CORONAVIRUS AND THE 2020/21 SEASON

TTE are sending out reminders to renew membership for next season. Please note all of you who ONLY play at the club either in hall or top room are associate members (free). This has been changed to two different categories this coming season and the one associate members need is the new Club Player which is also free. I will renew these for everyone on 1st August when current membership expires. All other players who play in TTE affiliated leagues such as King's Lynn will still need to renew. Some of these are on auto renew, some individuals do it themselves and some ask me to do it, please let me know if you want me to do it for you, current price 16.

We are now slowly getting information through about starting up again under strict government guidelines as far as having club 'knock' nights in the hall.

ALL BELOW DEPENDS ON MANY FACTORS BEFORE WE CAN GIVE AN ACTUAL START DATE IF KNOCK NIGHTS WILL BE POSSIBLE. BUT THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE IN MIND TO COMPLY WITH TTE AND GOVERNMENT GUIDELINES FOR THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF EVERYONE.

We are in discussion with the club to use the hall on a Monday evenings from 6.30pm until 8.45pm but have strict guidelines to follow. The hall would be set up ready for a 6.30pm start with three tables set up with surrounds making sure we can keep to social distancing. We can accommodate up to 18 players during the the evening, there will be strict rules in place to make sure we keep everyone safe. This will be run by Heacham Table Tennis Club for their members. It is the sole responsibility of the table tennis club to make sure we keep to government guidelines at all times and these will possibly change from week to week.

When we start it will be from 6.30pm with a maximum number of 18 players over 3 tables.
This will be for practice of singles NO DOUBLES GAMES ARE ALLOWED.
Depending on numbers will determine how long each couple can play before resting to allow another couple to play.
Each court will have two people playing with up to 4 others sitting waiting to play, keeping 2 metres apart, which can be done with two each side of the table.
There will be hand washing facilities as you enter with disposable paper towels and everyone is asked to wash their hands on arrival and departure.
EVERY PLAYER MUST BRING THEIR OWN ANTIBACTERIAL HAND GEL AND FACE MASK OR FACE SHIELD AND OWN BAT.
YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN UNLESS YOU HAVE THESE ITEMS.
TABLE TENNIS BALLS TO BE CLEANED ON A REGULAR BASIS.
YOU WILL ONLY BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A FACE COVERING WHEN YOU ARE NOT PLAYING.
EVERYONE MUST DO SOCIAL DISTANCING AT ALL TIMES, NO HAND SHAKING. USE ELBOW BUMPS ETC.
NO SCOREBOARDS TO BE USED.
COST 1 PER PLAYER TO GO TOWARDS PAYING FOR THE HALL.

THESE EVENINGS WOULD BE PUT ON WITH THE HEALTH AND SAFETY OF EVERYONE IN MIND AND IN ACCORDANCE WITH STRICT GUIDELINES FROM TTE AND THE GOVERNMENT AND CAN BE ALTERED OR CANCELLED AT SHORT NOTICE DEPENDING ON COVID 19

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THESE KNOCK NIGHTS CAN YOU PLEASE LET US KNOW SO WE CAN HAVE AN IDEA OF POSSIBLE NUMBERS TURNING UP AS WE CANNOT ACCOMMODATE MORE THAN 18 PEOPLE AND IT ALSO CANNOT GO AHEAD IF THERE ARE NOT ENOUGH PLAYERS. PLEASE CONTACT US AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
