GRAHAM SHEPPARD

Look out for this intriguing book

The novel is called 'Potential' and tells the story of 30 year-old single dad, David Lucas, who has taken up running as a therapeutic release from watching his wife die of cancer.

Eighteen months after her death and on a day the Fens face the worst fog they have experienced for many years, David takes off on his morning run, unaware that his life is to change in a way he could never have imagined. And when tragedy strikes, a chance encounter with ex-Olympic runner and coach, Charlie Greaves, presents him with the opportunity of a lifetime - a possible place in the 2012 Olympic team. But can he and will he take it?

At home his family life has its problems with his live-in girlfriend and 11 year-old son at loggerheads. In the days and months leading up to the big day and in the midst of receiving some devastating news, will he turn his back on his dream and be the father and partner his family needs?

In the final chapters we see the splendour of the Games take London and the World by storm and see whether one man, given one chance, can win gold at the greatest sporting event in the world.

It will be available from publishers, Austin Macauley.com Amazon, W.H.Smith, Waterstones and all leading booksellers on 28/02 at 9.99 paperback with an e-book at 3.50.
