BT VICTORY BOUNCE BACK WITH BIG WIN TO GO BACK TOP OF THE LEAGUE

Monday night in Heacham Public Hall another great night of table tennis with two matches going on. Table two and it was BT Victory back to winning ways with a big 9-1 win over Sedgeford Stars and with it they go back to top of the league. Hard fought maximums for Victory's Mary-Ann Woodhouse and Ian Reynolds but both had scares and were taken to five ends. Captain Steve Hales added two wins just losing out to the Stars Super Sub Mike Cooper. Mary-Ann and Ian teamed up to take the doubles over Mike and Dan Witley.
On Table one it was a 6-4 win for visiting Sedgeford Savages beating the in form Hunnys Heroes. The match was full of exciting rallies. The most spectacular were in the game between the Savages captain and superstar Ian Rix against the Heroes Graham Keeley. We were treated to a three end classic after so many long attacking rallies from both players we started to count how many exchanges and several contained over 40 and the longest was 53. When Ian decided to end the rallies with a smash it was so hard it was impossible for Graham to return it. Although this was just three ends one game on table two started and finished before the first end finished on table one. Ian completed his maximum in the same fine style to be player of the night. He had great support from Super Sub Bob Richardson with two wins including a good win over Rob Yarrow, it was Graham who stopped him getting his maximum. Kerry Smith added their final point with a win over young Alfie Yarrow who continues to improve week by week.

Tuesday evening at Ringstead and it was the Raiders team of Roger Pincott, Steven Stafford and Mike Patterson taking on Adrian's Oldstars. The Oldstars had regulars Mick Minns and Mike Nobes joined by Super Sub Eileen (I play for any team) Needham. Eileen has played for over half of the league teams, what a super sub, thanks Eileen. The Oldstars took a 2-0 lead after Mick and Mike beat Roger and Steven. Mike P then put a point on the scorecard for the home side with a win over Eileen. The Oldstars were always just in front and thanks to two fine maximums from Mick and Mike they finished up winning 6-4.

Thursday evening in the top room at Heacham and it was the local derby between Vips and Spivs. For the new boys on the block it was Jeff Race, Dave Curtis and Kim Mann and for Spivs Stephen Jackson and son Aaron along with Chris Griggs. With Stephen the most experienced player, on paper it was going to be a win for Spivs. With Stephen going unbeaten and young Aaron adding a couple of single wins and one from Chris plus Stephen and Aaron taking the doubles they came out winners 7-3. For the Vips it was there most experienced player Jeff with two wins and Kim chipped in with a win over Chris. Scorecard Comments: Spivs take the honours in local derby. Great night full of great table tennis and laughs.

To play in the Heacham League all you need to do is be TTE registered. If any player is looking for a game please get in touch. Once again we are looking for 'Super Subs'. So what is a Super Sub? They are players who play in other TTE affiliated leagues but would like an extra match or two or more during the season. There is no cost to be a Super Sub as long as you are TTE registered. There is no commitment on your part, if a team is short of a player they will have a list of Super Subs and contact details. They will contact you asking if you can help out and it is your choice to say if you are available or not.
