IAN'S MAXIMUM HELPS THE SAVAGES TO WIN OVER OLDSTARS

On Monday evening in Heacham Public Hall Ian Rix had another great maximum giving his Sedgeford Savages team a close 6-4 win over Adrian's Oldstars. Super Sub Charley Hammond got the home side off to a good start with a win over John Marrow. Then Mick Minns, who was struggling to move, lost in five ends to Kerry Smith followed by a four end win for Ian over Mike Nobes. Mick limped back to the table to lose to John and the Savages then went 4-1 up when Ian beat Charley in four ends. Mike pulled one back with a win over Kerry. Mick returned to the table and lost to Ian so it was 5-2 to the Savages. The Oldstars then won the next two games when Mike beat John and Charley beat Kerry. So the Oldstars needed to win the doubles to force a draw but John and Kerry beat Charley and Mike in four ends to edge home 6-4. Unfortunately Mick is now out for the remainder of the first half of the season with a hip problem and we hope he will be back fighting fit for the second half of the season.

T

Tuesday evening in Ringstead Village Hall it was the Raiders up against league leaders BT Victory. Earlier in the day the Raiders thought they only had two players so a Super Sub in the shape of Mike Cooper willingly stepped in but as 7.30pm approached 4 Raiders players turned up plus Mike. Hmmmm! Anyway in the end Roger Pincott and Super Sub Mike had a knock on the spare table and left it to Mark Hipkin, Paul Humeniuk and Richard Hendricks to take on Victory's Mary-Ann Woodhouse, Steve Hales and Mary-Ann's son George. Great experience for young George and although he did not manage to get on the scorecard he came away on the winning side as both Mary-Ann and Steve went unbeaten and Mary-Ann and George just lost out in four ends in the doubles in their 6-4 win.

Thursday evening in the Top Room at Heacham Spivs trio of Stephen and Aaron Jackson and Chris Griggs really found visiting Hunnys Heroes just too hot to handle. With young Alfie not feeling 100% it was older brother Tom who played along side Dad Rob and Graham Keeley. This was the side that won the league the last two seasons and with a 10-0 win under their belts it just showed why they have been at the top for the last two years.

Thursday evening in Sedgeford Village Hall it was the Sedgeford Stars up against Vips. The Stars had regulars Mike and Dan Witley joined by Super Sub Benji Richardson while Vips had Kim Mann joined by two Super Subs Eileen Needham and Vaughan Parker. It was the Stars who came out on top with all three players getting two singles wins to their names plus Dan and Benji adding the doubles, with a win over Eileen and Kim. However the star of the night was Vaughan who finished up with another maximum and he now heads the averages on 100%.

To play in the Heacham League all you need to do is be TTE registered. If any player is looking for a game please get in touch. Once again we are looking for 'Super Subs'. So what is a Super Sub? They are players who play in other TTE affiliated leagues but would like an extra match or two or more during the season. There is no cost to be a Super Sub as long as you are TTE registered. There is no commitment on your part, if a team is short of a player they will have a list of Super Subs and contact details. They will contact you asking if you can help out and it is your choice to say if you are available or not.
