Monday evening in Heacham Public Hall on Table one it was BT Victory against Spivs. Spivs knew they were in for a hard match and they went down 8-2. Victory had their usual three in the shape of Mary-Ann Woodhouse, Steve Hales and David Howell while for Spivs it was Stephen Jackson and Chris Griggs with, Super Sub for the night, Jim Race. Mary-Ann and Steve put Victory 2-0 up with wins over Stephen and Chris respectively. Then we had a real tussle and the first five ender when David edged home over Jim 13-15, 11-6, 8-11, 12-10 & 11-8. Stephen then put a point on the scorecard for Spivs in another five ender. Losing the first two ends to Steve 10 & 7 he came back to win the next three 8, 10 & 5. It was then 2 more wins for Victory before Jim had a three end win over Steve. The last two singles went to Victory plus the doubles for their 8-2 win. This moves them further ahead at the top of the table.

On Table two there were plenty of laughs and some excellent games when Hunnys Heroes trio of Rob and Alfie Yarrow and Graham Keeley took on Adrian's (down to one player) Oldstars. With Adrian Evans still out of action and now joined by Mick Minns with hip problems it was left to Mike (I am still plodding on) Nobes and super subs Charley Hammond and Eileen (I play for any team) Needham. It was a close 6-4 win for Hunnys Heroes as Rob led the way with a great maximum plus he teamed up with Graham to take the doubles, also Graham added the other two points with wins over Charley and Eileen. The Oldstars points came from a win each for Mike, Charley and Eileen over young, ever improving, Alfie plus Charley had a hard fought win over Graham.

We move on to Thursday evening and in Sedgeford Village Hall the local derby between the Sedgeford Savages and Stars. Always a hard fought match and a close one and this was no exception. Once again it was that man Ian Rix who lead his Savages side to a 6-4 win with yet another fine maximum. He had good support from John Marrow and Kerry Smith who both had a singles win each plus they teamed up to take the doubles. The Stars only had one of the regular team Dan Witley and he was joined by super subs Benji and Bob Richardson. It was the super subs who got the 4 points for the Stars as they both recorded two singles wins each, but neither could find a way past Ian.

Also on Thursday evening but in the top room at Heacham it was Vips Jeff Race and Kim Mann joined by super sub Aaron Jackson up against Ringstead Raiders. Another last minute request for a super sub from the Raiders and it was super sub Eileen (I play for any team) Needham to the rescue as she joined Richard Hendricks and Roger Pincott. All the Vips had two singles wins each with star of the match young Aaron in their 6-4 win. For the Raiders it was 2 singles wins for Roger and single win for Richard plus Eileen and Roger clinched a hard fought doubles. Match Comments: Excellent night . Congratulations to Jeff and Kim for their two wins a piece but plaudits of the evening go to young Aaron playing the match whilst suffering debilitating pain from a tooth abscess . Did this stop him ? No . Aaron also recorded two wins for the first time in a match , the second an impressive five end win over Roger after being 6-10 down in the 5th to take it 12-10 . We take our hats off to you Aaron .

They are players who play in other TTE affiliated leagues but would like an extra match or two or more during the season. There is no cost to be a Super Sub as long as you are TTE registered. There is no commitment on your part, if a team is short of a player they will have a list of Super Subs and contact details. They will contact you asking if you can help out and it is your choice to say if you are available or not.
