Mary-Ann

Steve

David

Mike

Adrian

Well here we are back after the Christmas break and the first match in the league was held in the top room instead of the hall which is undergoing major alterations. It was the Challenge format and it was second place BT Victory up against third place Adrian's Allstars. For Victory their regular team of Mary-Ann Woodhouse, Steve Hales and David Howell while for the Allstars Adrian Evans, Mike Nobes and Super Sub Charley Hammond standing in for the injured Mick Minns who will be out of action for the remainder of the season. Where do I start with this report, I presume by the stunning performance of the Allstars captain. Not sure if it was a Christmas present or not but he had a brand new bat with special powers. Apparently all you need to do is hold the bat and it automatically moves your body, legs, arms and hands into the correct position. So with this great advantage Adrian went through his singles games against Steve and David with little problem. We are not sure of the cost of this 'extraordinary' super bat but its value started at 350 but by the end of the evening rumours of over a 1000 were mentioned. Back to match and there were five four enders and two five enders with the result going down to the wire and the score being four all with just the final doubles to play which Steve and Mary-Ann won beating Charley and Mike and so a 5-4 win. The other star of the evening was Mary-Ann who like Adrian won both her singles. A great match to start off the second half of the season as Adrian went home to make sure his new bat was covered by his insurance policy as a special item valued over 1000.

Ringstead Raiders (6) Spivs Specials (3)

Mark

Paul

Stephen

Jim

Jeff

Chris

Wednesday evening in Ringstead Village Hall it was the Ringstead Raiders trio of Mark Hipkin, Paul Humeniuk and Stephen Stafford taking on Spivs Specials team of Jim and Jeff Race and Chris Griggs. Once again some very close games with over half the games going to either four or five ends. However it was the home side who came out on top with a 6-3 win. Top scorer for the Raiders was Paul who went unbeaten in his singles games and top scorer for the Specials was Jim who also went unbeaten. Mark and Stephen both added a point and the Raiders also won two out of the three doubles.
Match Comments: Excellent Friendly Match

Sedgeford Stars (5) Sedgeford Savages (4)

Mike

Paul

Dan

John

Kerry

Ian

Thursday evening in Sedgeford Village Hall the local derby between Sedgeford Stars and Savages. When they met in the first half of the season in the normal format it was a 7-3 win for the Savages. This time in the Challenge format the Stars came out on top with a close 5-4 win. However once again it was the Savages Ian Rix who was the star player winning both his singles. But not without a fight as Mike Witley once again pushed him all the way to five ends 11-8, 9-11, 11-7, 8-11 & 7-11. Mike had good support from Paul Richardson and Dan Witley who both had a single win. For the Savages Kerry Smith got a point with a singles win over Dan. Two of the three doubles went to the Stars which just gave them the win.

To play in the Heacham League all you need to do is be TTE registered. If any player is looking for a game please get in touch. Once again we are looking for 'Super Subs'. So what is a Super Sub? They are players who play in other TTE affiliated leagues but would like an extra match or two or more during the season. There is no cost to be a Super Sub as long as you are TTE registered. There is no commitment on your part, if a team is short of a player they will have a list of Super Subs and contact details. They will contact you asking if you can help out and it is your choice to say if you are available or not.
