ELEVEN YEAR OLD ALFIE HAS FIRST LEAGUE WIN IN A CLASSIC FIVE ENDER

Hunnys Heroes moved back into second place after their 8-2 win over Vips on Monday evening in Heacham Public Hall. Graham Keeley was joined by super sub Tom Yarrow and regular team member younger brother Alfie. Game of the match was a real classic five ender between Alfie and Kim Mann. First end went to Alfie 18-16 the second end went to Kim 14-12, then Alfie 11-7, then Kim 11-7 but it was Alfie who came away with a 11-6 win in the fifth end to record his first league win of the season. Well done Alfie...Keep it up! Graham and Tom both went unbeaten in their singles and teamed up to take the doubles but Tom was pushed all the way by Jim Race in another five ender. Vips points came from a win each for Jeff Race and Jim over Alfie both in four ends.

Also on Monday evening in the Public Hall  league leaders BT Victory were up against second place Sedgeford Savages. BT stamped their authority on the league when Mary-Ann Woodhouse, David Howell-Smith and Steve Hales won 8-2. Mary-Ann went unbeaten in her singles with David and Steve having two wins each but both lost to Ian Rix. The doubles was a hard fought battle when Mary-Ann and David edged home in five ends over John Marrow and Kerry Smith 12-10, 9-11, 11-9, 9-11 & 11-7.

Tuesday evening in Ringstead Village Hall and it was the Ringstead Raiders trio of Richard Hendricks, Justin Mullins and Mike Patterson up against visiting Sedgeford Stars Mike Witley, Paul Richardson and super sub Benji Richardson. The score of 9-1 to the Stars does not reflect how close some of the games were, as there were 4 four enders and 2 close five enders. But it was maximums for Benji and Paul and two wins for Mike, the doubles went to the Stars pairing of Mike and Benji. For the Raiders it was a win for Mike P over Mike W but unfortunately Mike P could not finish his final singles game against Benji as he had back problems during the first end.

Thursday evening in the top room of Heacham Public Hall and on a cold night it was Spivs taking on Adrian's Oldstars. Just like Ringstead Raiders two nights earlier Spivs trio of Stephen and Aaron Jackson and Chris Griggs found it tough going and finished up losing 9-1. The Oldstars had Mick Minns back in action joining team mate Mike Nobes and super sub Eileen Needham. Mick and Mike both went unbeaten in their singles and Eileen had her best singles match result recording two wins just losing to Stephen. She also teamed up with Mike to take the doubles over Stephen and Chris. Match Comments: Nice to see Mick back in action and despite the score line an enjoyable evening.

To play in the Heacham League all you need to do is be TTE registered. If any player is looking for a game please get in touch. Once again we are looking for 'Super Subs'. So what is a Super Sub? They are players who play in other TTE affiliated leagues but would like an extra match or two or more during the season. There is no cost to be a Super Sub as long as you are TTE registered. There is no commitment on your part, if a team is short of a player they will have a list of Super Subs and contact details. They will contact you asking if you can help out and it is your choice to say if you are available or not.
