ADRIAN AND THAT 'BAT' PROVED TOO MUCH FOR THE RAIDERS!

Monday evening in Heacham Public Hall and it was that man again Adrian Evans with new bat in hand who led his team to yet another 9-0 win. The power of this new 'Super' bat is incredible as explained in a previous weeks report, it just sits in the players hand and it seems to do everything right so powerful is this bat it also has the power to help team mates, the estimated price for this bat has now risen to over 3000. Unfortunately I was not at the match and can only go on comments and just looking at the scorecard but as always irrespective of the result it was yet another great friendly evening in the Heacham League.

SEDGEFORD SAVAGES (3)   HUNNYS HEROES (6)

Ian

Kerry

John

Graham

Rob

Tom

Wednesday evening in Sedgeford Village Hall there was a cracker of a match when the Sedgeford Savages gave league leaders Hunnys Heroes a tough match. First game was the doubles and the home sides number one Ian Rix partnered John Marrow to take on the Heroes number one Graham Keeley and Tom Yarrow. Five very close ends finally went to the home pair 9-11, 8-11, 12-10, 11-9 & 11-9. Back came the heroes when Rob Yarrow  beat John and then Tom beat Kerry. Then it was the two number one's and it was super hero Ian who came away with the win against Graham. 2 all. The next doubles went to the Heroes when Rob and Tom beat Kerry and John. Then it was Ian back again this time against Rob, a classic game by all accounts and five close ends later it was Ian the victor 11-6, 11-6, 10-12, 10-12 & 11-9. 3 all. Then it was the Heroes who managed to take the last three games and with it a 6-3 win.

SPIVS SPECIALS (4)   SEDGEFORD STARS (5)

Stephen

Jim

Aaron

Mike

Paul

Dan

Thursday evening in the top room of Heacham Public Hall we had the closest match of the week when visiting Sedgeford Stars edged home 5-4 against the home sides Spivs Specials. The Stars took an early lead winning the first doubles and then the first singles when Paul Richardson beat Aaron Jackson. Third game saw the Specials Jim Race beat Dan Witley. It was then two more wins for the Stars as Mike Witley beat Stephen Jackson in a close fought four ender. This was followed by a second doubles win for the Stars when Paul and Dan beat Jim and Aaron. So 4-1 to the Stars, Stephen got one back for the Specials as he beat Paul in four ends. Jim then had a good win over Mike to be player of the night. So with the score 4-3 in favour of the Stars the last two games were shared so the final score was 5-4 to the Stars. Comments on scorecard...Close fought match very enjoyable evening.

I am sorry to report  the Heacham Table Tennis Monday morning club has lost one of its most popular members. George Needham sadly died on Wednesday 17th January 2018. George was a member for many years and was the husband of our Heacham Super Sub league player Eileen Needham. George will be sadly missed by us all, George never played in the league but he did play in our hard bat tournament last year and he was at all our club Christmas lunches and Summer BBQ's until his illness. George's funeral is on Monday 19th February at Mintlyn Crematorium at 1.45pm.

Next Weeks Matches W/C Monday 29th January 2018 (2 Player League)

All eight teams will be playing two matches each on Monday 29th January in Heacham Public Hall.
We will start setting up at 6.30pm so we can make a prompt start at 7.15pm (at the latest). We would appreciate any players arriving between 6.45pm and 7pm to make sure we are all set up and will all teams taking part make sure you arrive as close to 7pm as possible. Finally will everyone pitch in to help clear up after the matches, this takes no longer than 10 minutes if we all help.  Thanks

To play in the Heacham League all you need to do is be TTE registered. If any player is looking for a game please get in touch. Once again we are looking for 'Super Subs'. So what is a Super Sub? They are players who play in other TTE affiliated leagues but would like an extra match or two or more during the season. There is no cost to be a Super Sub as long as you are TTE registered. There is no commitment on your part, if a team is short of a player they will have a list of Super Subs and contact details. They will contact you asking if you can help out and it is your choice to say if you are available or not.
