On Monday evening in Heacham Public Hall it was Adrian's Allstars last match of the season when they took on Spivs Specials. The Allstars started the season with just three players and early on Mick Minns was injured and was out for the rest of the season then a few weeks back Adrian Evans landed up in hospital and again out for the remainder of the season. I am pleased to say both are well on the way to recovery. So it meant Mike Nobes was joined by Super Subs Mike Cooper and Eileen Needham. While the Specials had their top three players on board Stephen Jackson, Jim and Tim Race. What a close match, it was the Challenge format so all players played 2 singles and 2 doubles and all players came away with a win either in the doubles or the singles. It was Mike C who went unbeaten in both his singles and doubles which just gave the edge to the Allstars as they won 5-4.

Sedgeford Savages (3) vs  BT Victory (6)

Benji, Kerry & Ian   Steve, David & Ian

Wednesday evening in Sedgeford Village Hall Sedgeford Savages were the home team against BT Victory. The Savages had regulars Ian Rix and Kerry Smith joined by Super Sub Benji Richardson while Victory were without their number one Mary-Ann Woodhouse and so had Steve Hales, David Howell and Ian Reynolds on board. Five enders and four enders galore and the match started off with a a classic five ender when Ian and David edged home over Ian and Benji 13-11, 8-11, 12-10, 7-11 & 9-11. From this point on Victory were always just in front finally winning 6-3. In the singles the two Ian's had another classic five ender with Victory's Ian edging home 6-11, 11-5, 13-11, 8-11 & 5-11 and Ian completed an unbeaten night with a win over Kerry. For the Savages Benji had a great night winning both his singles, against Steve in four ends and yet

another five ender, when he beat David 12-14, 13-15, 11-6, 11-4 & 11-9. All in all sounds like a great match with some great comments on the scorecard!

On Thursday evening in Sedgeford Village Hall it was Sedgeford Stars taking on the mighty Hunnys Heroes. The Stars had their regular three, Mike and Dan Witley and Paul Richardson while the Heroes had a last minute change to their line up as Tom Yarrow went down with flu so Super Sub Charley Hammond joined Graham Keeley and Rob Yarrow. As it was the 'challenge' format it was three doubles and six singles. The first doubles was the only five ender of the match when Mike and Paul pushed Graham and Rob all the way but just lost out. After that it was all Heroes as they finished up winning 9-0 and with it Champions again with a week to spare. Congratulations and can they make it three in a row?

Sedgeford Stars (0) vs Hunnys Heroes (9)

On Thursday evening in the top room at Heacham was the re-arranged match because of the snow. It was Spivs Specials trio of Aaron and Stephen Jackson and Chris Griggs up against visiting Ringstead Raiders team of Justin Mullins, Richard Hendricks and Super Sub Eileen Needham. A close match was expected and a close match it was with the Raiders just edging home 5-4. It was the 'Special' format with six doubles and three singles. The doubles games were shared 3-3 and it was a win for Stephen over Richard for the extra point for the Specials but it was  first wins of the season for Justin and Eileen that clinched it for the Raiders.

To play in the Heacham League all you need to do is be TTE registered. If any player is looking for a game please get in touch. Once again we are looking for 'Super Subs'. So what is a Super Sub? They are players who play in other TTE affiliated leagues but would like an extra match or two or more during the season. There is no cost to be a Super Sub as long as you are TTE registered. There is no commitment on your part, if a team is short of a player they will have a list of Super Subs and contact details. They will contact you asking if you can help out and it is your choice to say if you are available or not.
