NEXT SEASON 2019/20

As reported last week I am retiring from running the Heacham Table Tennis League at the end of this season. The Heacham Table Tennis League will cease to run after the end of the 2018/19 season.
Heacham Table Tennis Club will be organising internal matches for the 2019/20 season with all matches being played at the Heacham Venue.  The number of teams entered will determine if all matches will be played in the main hall on a Monday evening or if we need the use of the top room on a Thursday evening as well. To find out how many people are interested in continuing to play in this new set up a meeting will be held on MONDAY 8TH APRIL AT 7.15PM IN HEACHAM PUBLIC HALL. Through word of mouth there are already five of the existing 8 teams saying they will continue next season. Plus there has already been another team formed from players who have mainly been super subs this season. I have names of players who have said they want to be placed in a team so these players need to attend the meeting as up to a maximum of two more teams can be added if necessary. At the meeting all teams will be formed. It will be discussed how and what format you want to run. Suggestions have been voiced for the normal and challenge format to continue along with the 2 player league. Also it has been mentioned that we have non league matches of doubles and handicap format plus hard bat matches. This meeting will be the only chance for you to get involved in next seasons table tennis. From the 2019/20 season all players who play at Heacham Club will have to be annual members of Heacham Sports & Social Club (6 per player) plus must be members of Heacham Table Tennis Club (1). The table tennis club is affiliated to TTE and if you play only in the club competitions all you will need to be is an associate member of TTE which is FREE. If you also play in any affiliated TTE league such as King's Lynn/Fakenham/Wisbech you will have to have TTE player membership which this season was 16 and possibly will be 18 next season. Provisionally the only other expense for players will be a match fee when they play and that could be as little as 5 per team of 3 players and in the 2 player league, as this season, 2 per player per night (2 matches). THIS MEETING WILL BE YOUR CHANCE TO HAVE YOUR SAY ETC PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU ATTEND IF YOU WANT TO PLAY NEXT SEASON EITHER IN A TEAM OR JUST AS A SUPER SUB....FOR THOSE TEAMS ALREADY ENTERED JUST A REPRESENTATIVE WILL BE ENOUGH IF THE WHOLE TEAM DOES NOT WANT TO ATTEND.

What a great match to start off this weeks report and really all that is needed is the comments on the scorecard which say it all. This is what the Heacham league is all about and although this is the last season in its present format I am sure next seasons new internal club set up will be equally as good if not better. My report is easy I am just giving you the comments on the scorecard. Match Comments from Home Team: Please find attached the score card for tonight's TITANIC encounter, the final 7-2 score line does not do the closeness of the evening justice. Fantastic TT and super friendly. Matches of the evening Kim v Eileen and Kim v Alfie with Kim just coming out on top in both encounters. (Kim vs Eileen 11-9, 9-11, 12-10, 11-13 & 12-10  Kim vs Alfie 11-7, 5-11, 11-7, 7-11 & 11-9) Match Comments from Away Team: Best nights Table Tennis this season for Hunnys Heroes. Great fun, VIPS echo that. Great Games! Great Friendship.

Eileen

Stephen

Jim

Chris

Monday evening in Heacham Public Hall it was the last week of the Challenge format and Adrian's Oldstars were up against Spivs. Man of the match Stephen Jackson winning both his singles but it was not enough to help his side to victory as they narrowly went down 5-4. All the Oldstars Mick Minns, Mike Nobes and super sub Eileen Needham all had a single win but they won two out of the three doubles to clinch the match. Super sub Jim Race added the other sngles point for Spivs plus he teamed up with Stephen to take the final doubles over Mick and Mike. There was a classic five ender that possibly decided the match when Eileen edged home over Chris 11-9, 4-11, 11-8, 10-12 & 11-8.

SEDGEFORD SAVAGES (4)

BT VICTORY (5)

Ian

Kerry

John

Steve

Ian Rix was the superstar in the match between Sedgeford Savages and league champions BT Victory. Ian and team mates Kerry Smith and John Marrow pushed the champions all the way just losing out 5-4. Ian had a good five end win over Mary-Ann Woodhouse 10-12, 11-8, 9-11, 11-9 & 11-4 and a three end win over David Howell-Smith. John put another point on the scorecard with a win over Steve Hales and their final point came from a doubles win by Ian and John over Mary-Ann and Steve. Victory's trio all had a single win each and won two of the three doubles for their five points.

SEDGEFORD STARS (8)

RINGSTEAD RAIDERS (1)

Benji

Paul

Sedgeford Stars were in great form when they entertained Ringstead Raiders. The Stars had super sub Benji Richardson continuing his good form going unbeaten as did Mike Witley and with Dan Witley just losing out to Paul Humeniuk plus winning all three doubles it gave the Stars a big 8-1 win.

To play in the Heacham League all you need to do is be TTE registered. If any player is looking for a game please get in touch. Once again we are looking for 'Super Subs'. So what is a Super Sub? They are players who play in other TTE affiliated leagues but would like an extra match or two or more during the season. There is no cost to be a Super Sub as long as you are TTE registered. There is no commitment on your part, if a team is short of a player they will have a list of Super Subs and contact details. They will contact you asking if you can help out and it is your choice to say if you are available or not.
