TABLE TENNIS NEWS
Message from Stephen on Whats App
(Tuesday 26/9/2023)
Hi
all, Thank you all for tonight's
last main knock night. Some really
enjoyable TT. I've posted this
seasons fixtures (though there will
still be some hard copies available
next Monday for those who would
still like one) & also the teams for
this season.
We
are back to a standard 6 teams due
to player changes from last season.
Some old friends returning which
should hopefully make for an
enjoyable season.
We
would like the teams between
themselves to try and give each
player equal play time where
possible though we're always aware
of the constraints of
work/holidays.
There will be the usual knock hour
from 6pm to 7pm for any players not
playing in the league that evening.
League knock up starting from
7:15pm.
If
there are any questions regarding
fixtures or teams please don't
hesitate to contact Jim or myself. I
believe Jim will be in contact with
the team captains regarding team
member contact details.
Finally I'd like to wish Jim a happy
70th Birthday for tomorrow. Doesn't
look a day over 21! |

As the new 2023/4 season approaches we
received the very sad news that we have lost one
of our most popular league players. David Bourne
unfortunately died recently. You could not have asked for a nicer
person than David, plus he was always a hard man
to beat on the table. David has played firstly
on Monday mornings in the friendly knock up and
then played in the internal league on Monday
evenings. His teammates plus the rest of Heacham
table tennis club will really miss David this
season. David’s funeral was on Monday, the 18th of
September at Mintlyn crematorium. Heacham table
tennis club did David proud at the funeral with
the following club members forming an arch with
raised table
tennis bats for David’s coffin to pass under on
the way into the crematorium. The following
members were proud to form the arch, Jim Race,
Stephen Jackson, Mick Minns, Eileen Needham,
Graham Keeley, Barry Lemel, Paul Waterman, Tony
Trayford, Ron Kendle, Mike and Jenny Cooper. At
knock night the same evening the club observed a
minute’s silence in remembrance of David. There
were 17 people at knock night. The collection by
club members was handed in at the funeral. Our
condolences and thoughts are with Jackie and
David’s family.
